Dem Strategist Says Top Trump Diplomat Could Be America’s First Female President

One Democratic strategist thinks it’s possible that one of the Trump administration’s biggest stars, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, could be the country’s first female president.

Fox News contributor Jessica Tarlov said Tuesday that people on both sides of the aisle believe Haley could shatter the proverbial glass ceiling that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton helped crack in 2008 and 2016.

“I’ve actually heard a lot of people on both sides of the aisle say, if we’re going to have our first female president, it could very likely be Nikki Haley,” Tarlov explained.

Haley, the former Republican governor of South Carolina, played a leading role in what the White House has referred to as a “maximum pressure campaign” on North Korea. The ambassador was able to get all 15 members of the U.N. Security Council to agree to place sanctions on the hermit kingdom.

One U.S. official who spoke to Fox News described Haley’s efforts this way:

“Ambassador Haley’s diplomacy behind the scenes, in particular with the Chinese ambassador here, as well as the Russian ambassador, made it very, very clear that we were not kidding around.

We were literally just one more provocation away from some kind of a military action that would bring great harm to the entire region, and that the threat we perceived from North Korea’s development was no longer theoretical by any means.”

Though she doesn’t agree with all of Haley’s politics, Tarlov described the diplomat as a “force” at the U.N.
